This is a participation safari, a hands-on adventure where guests join in the fun of setting up camp and cooking together. The journey begins in Maun and ends in Livingstone, combining the tranquillity of the Okavango Delta with the excitement of Botswana’s top wilderness areas and the wonder of the Victoria Falls. With a mix of wild camping and a comfortable lodge stay, it offers both authentic safari adventure and a touch of comfort at the journey’s end.

Journey at a Glance
- Days 1–2: From Maun to the Okavango Delta, where you will transfer your equipment into a Mokoro (dugout canoe). There will be guided walks, mokoro excursions, and wild camping.
- Day 3: Return to Maun (optional Delta flight); overnight camping.
- Days 4–6: Travel into Moremi Game Reserve; morning and afternoon game drives, private campsites.
- Days 7–9: Explore Savuti and the Chobe Riverfront; renowned for elephants, predators, and diverse habitats.
- Days 10–11: Cross into Zambia for a night in Livingstone; optional visit to Victoria Falls before safari ends at 10h00 on Day 11.
Your adventure will take you in a north westerly direction from Maun to the Okavango Delta. You will meet the local polers with their mokoro, where you will transfer your equipment and enjoy a tranquil transfer to an island. You will spend two days exploring this beautiful area on mokoro excursions and taking guided walks on the islands and floodplains of the Okavango. You will camp wild with bush ablutions. (B, L, D).
Maun to Okavango Delta: 320km, 4hrs
today you will retrace your route to Maun. You will have the option of taking a scenic flight over the Delta to return to Maun (1hr scenic flight is US$200 per person, min. 3 guests to guarantee the flight). This magical experience provides another perspective of the Okavango Delta’s unique water system and if you choose to take the flight, you will enjoy a leisurely afternoon in the Delta campsite and wait for your afternoon flight. After collecting you at the airport, you will shop for drinks and then spend the night at a campsite just outside Maun with permanent ablution facilities. (B, L, D). From Maun you will drive through to Moremi Game Reserve, covering swamp and dry areas. The next three days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. You will enjoy game drives in the early morning as the sun rises and in the late afternoon as the sun sets will be the norm. After your morning game drive you will return to camp for lunch. On Day 6 you will move campsites to explore a different area of this diverse park. Camping will be in private designated campsites with bush ablutions. (B, L, D). Day 4: Maun to Moremi Game Reserve: 150km, 6hrs (including game drive)
Chobe National Park will be your next destination. As you continue your search for wildlife, you will traverse the drier region of Savuti You will then head northwards to the Chobe River where your game drives will meander along the banks of the river and venture further into the park. Camping will be in private designated areas with bush ablutions. (B, L, D). Day 7: Moremi to Savuti: 120km. 5-6hrs. Day 8: Savuti to Chobe River: 170km, 5hrs
After a morning game drive you will cross the Zambezi River by ferry and then drive to Livingstone on the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls (Visa required), where you will spend the night at a comfortable lodge. In the afternoon there will be time to visit the thunderous Victoria Falls and shop for curios. Dinner will be at your own expense at the lodge. The safari officially ends at 10h00 on Day 11. Outdoor African Tour Safaris is happy to arrange post-tour accommodation, activities and transfers to Livingstone airport or lodges, Victoria Falls airport or lodges or Kasane, Botswana, at an additional cost.
